I’m going to get backlash for saying this, but claiming that Arsenal are a better side when Mesut Özil is in the starting eleven isn’t putting him above Emery, nor the club’s future. We weren’t unlucky today, the decisions didn’t go against us, we were out-footballed. Period.
Without Özil in the squad how are we supposed to create any chances for ourselves? This game showed how badly we needed a playmaker like him. The man is one of the best #1Ö in the world yet he’s being pushed aside by the coach even though he was fit to play... 😩
Emery just doesn’t seem to want to play Özil in away games does he. Look fella, we’ve been watching him longer than you have, we all know he isn’t the most physical person on the pitch but he isn’t THAT weak. We’re playing far too many defensively minded players.
I’ve held back my criticism, but tactically dropping Özil, ridiculous. He’s never picked his strongest lineup available to him. Scared of fielding more than 3 attacking players, scared of not having options off the bench. Too scared. He focuses far too much on the opposition.
Since Özil was taken off vs Crystal Palace away, he has played a grand total of 65 premier league minutes in away games and Arsenal have received a grand total of 0 points from these games.
It really does make you think 🤔
Genuinely don’t want to make this game about Emery/Özil but when the manager will rather have 3 full backs on the bench rather than Mesut Özil how can you not say it’s a personal vendetta? So weird mann
If the rest of the players were good enough it would be the correct decision to drop Özil given how he has performed in the last year. But only to the bench. How can we have a £350,000 a week player not making the squad?
You can (hardly) convince me that Özil is not good enough for the starting XI
You can not convince me that he’s not good enough to even make the bench.
Reeks of agenda;
I can “back the manager” and still recognize that there’s some sort of agenda behind this, right?
Yes, Emery needs time, but you don’t help your cause if you consistently decide not to play your best creative players. It’s quite baffling how Özil can be left out of such games due to ‘tactical’ reasons. Is the tactic not to be creative? #AFC
Mo Salah is a twat. If you tell me otherwise then you’re a twat too. Players like him and Kane get away with almost anything whilst players like Sterling, Pogba, Özil are scapegoated week in week out. Fuck me!
@LeeGunner82 Totally get your point Lee. Emery has to deal with the cards dealt to him by the previous managerial structure. Needs time to root out the average players, that are on ridiculous wages, and put in place 'his' players. This all said, he HAS to get the best out of Özil. No choice.
@YankeeGunner Theres no good reason for him to be handling Özil this way as far as I can see. Team seems to be going wrong way. Emery has loads of talent even if this isn't a great squad overall and he is failing to get much out of it. Meanwhile for all his conservativism we're worse defending
How many games have we lost when Emery leaves Özil out of the game compared to when he plays?
If you make big tactical decisions like that you better win or YOU are the one to blame. Literally playing weaker options intentionally....
Özil registered 19 assist with Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck in front of him in the 15/16 season. Now we've got Aubameyang and Lacazette in front so he should be assisting near every game yet he's not even in the squad. Laughable.
@OllieHolt22 #WHUARS Like or loat Mesut Özil, you can’t have a Bentley & a Ferrari, pack them in your garage & be running a VW beetle or Peugeot 504 & expect a smooth & pleasant journey. Playing Iwobi & Guendouzi when Özil & Ramsey are available is about as any football sin a coach can commit
Like it or not, a Mourinho-Pogba feud is brewing at the Arsenal dressing room with Emery and Özil.
And what's actually funny is that the club might be backing the manager to get Özil to quit, thereby lessening the wage bill..
Either ways, we're fucked.
@awesome_mikaz@hamzaa_123@UnitedsRelated@MrDtAFC Man U have more attacking depth but there not all going to play at the same time. But if your comparing Man U main starting front attack (Lukaku - Martial - Rashford) vs ours (Aubameyang - Lacazette - Özil) Man U have 25 goals and Arsenal have 29 goals between them so far.
@Arsenal No words but thanks for not winning 🏅
Thanks for not trusting Özil 🥇
Thanks for using your best & lose🥈
Thanks for reminding the fans that the Wenger's regime is still existing in you 🥉 About all thanks thanks 🙏🏽 that Arsenal will be soon @ 6th place🔜😏
Also Özil links up with the players more, there's a better chemistry amongst the whole squad. You see it training too.
However with Emery other managers can come in. Yes we haven't seen what he's capable of with his own squad, meaning we must be patient and give him time
It's hard. Because if Özil goes Arsenal will not be able to replace him. There's not many players out their in today's market of his calibre. Özil can create chances out of nothing, we've seen it a million times. Players seem to be happy when he's on the pitch too. https://t.co/zyvB33aBE4
@GiantGooner Yeah wasn’t be snarky. I don’t know what’s going on obviously. But I think he just must not like him. I don’t recall any other managers having a problem with Özil no matter how they used him. But maybe they always viewed him as an automatic starter and now Emery doesn’t? 🤷♂️
Fuck this experiment of playing 55 CB's and DM's, just play the best players and outscore other teams. That's the Arsenal we want FFS!
Play Auba, Laca, Özil, Ramsey together.
STOP PLAYING CONSERVATIVE FOOTBALL. PLEASE. THANK YOU. @UnaiEmery_
