#Christchurch. This beyond grotesque horrific white supremacist terrorist crime in OUR, YOUR little country. With love and heartbreak to the Muslim community of Aotearoa, we are with you. You are us. We are all NewZealanders. #TheyAreUs Kia kaha. We weep together.

I don’t think people understand. Aotearoa (“New Zealand”) and “Australia” are built off Black and Brown bodies. They are built on white supremacy. This is colonisation. We, the Indigenous peoples of both lands, aren’t surprised about Christchurch.

As a Māori boy in Aotearoa, you know how many times I ever felt threatened by a muslim person? You ask any brown person in NZ who them and their communities feel threatened by most, you know what answer you’re going to get? Take your islamophobic ideas and get in the fucking bin.

Solidarity and love to the people of Christchurch, to our Muslim whānau. Hatred and violence does not ‘belong’ anywhere. Our Aotearoa New Zealand stands for inclusion, for love, for diversity, for peace. There are no words for this darkness.

From settler colony to settler colony, where there is stolen land, a murderous white supremacy is the norm, not the exception. We grieve with our Muslim relatives today in Aotearoa, and across the world.

Both Aotearoa and Australian media write about Muslims as if they are a race. As if all Black and Brown people belong to it. This is how white supremacy is enforced, by both painting islam as a terrible faith and then radicalising it. THIS IS HOW THE COLONISERS GO AROUND HERE
