The San Diego Padres are acquiring second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates, sources tell ESPN.
Frazier, 29, leads baseball in hits this year and is not a free agent until after the 2022 season. One of the best bats on the trade market.
Another bat headed to Slam Diego.
reportedly acquire Adam Frazier from Pirates, according to MLB Network Insider @JonHeyman
The Padres now have both starting middle infielders from this month's All-Star Game, and can now trot out a potential infield of:
1B Jake Cronenworth, All-Star
2B Adam Frazier, All-Star
SS Fernando Tatis Jr., All-Star
3B Manny Machado, All-Star
Mariners also made offer for Adam Frazier and did not ask Pirates to put cash in deal, sources tell @TheAthletic
. Pirates sent $1.4M to Padres in part because they value Marcano highly. If he evolves into Frazier type, Pirates get six years of him for 1-plus of Frazier.
Breaking: The Padres are acquiring All-Star 2B/OF Adam Frazier in a trade with the Pirates.
The #Padres are working to acquire a starting pitcher, sources say. Adam Frazier probably won't be the last acquisition they make before Friday's deadline. @MLB @MLB
The Padres plan to use Adam Frazier in a super-utility role. He has mostly played second base but also has experience at all three outfield positions.
If the Adam Frazier deal is any indication, seems to me like the Padres are just going to get everybody they possibly can.
They already had a full infield (Hos, Kim, Tatis, Machado, Profar, Crone), and AJ Preller went out and added an All Star infielder.
This could get fun.
Adam Frazier will probably be the last major trade for the Pirates’ rebuild, which is a nice thought
That return for Frazier was quite telling of how the market may look for similar players this week
I feel pretty good about the Mets making some significant moves without giving up the entire farm
eric hosmer on the team plane getting a call from preller shortly after the frazier trade news broke: https://t.co/I3juki5Yoh
Adam Frazier hitting mechanics 2020 vs 2021. More open on right with a toe tap. Look at the left he does this weird drop then load thing. Keeps hands up goes to load mode right away on right. Timing looks better consistently this year. https://t.co/RDX2N5Vu0g
I know this is a bit delayed, but I really can’t get me head around how little it cost to acquire Adam Frazier. And that’s not even including that the Padres got 1.5MM in cash.
The San Diego Padres offense is about to get more dangerous with MLB's current hit leader Adam Frazier coming over in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. https://t.co/l9nUHAgsVM
Adam Frazier is having a very Tony Gwynn type season.
Gwynn's age 29 season = .336/.389/.424 132 OPS+
Frazier's age 29 season =
.324/.388/.448 129 OPS+

I like the Adam Frazier deal for SD, and PIT gets back a decent haul.
Marcano: + hit tool, but not MLB ready yet at 21
Suwinski: breakout season in double-A, he’s figured something out
Miliano: great lottery ticket arm
I love prospects but this trade still favors the Padres imo.
Ken Frazier is joining a high-minded venture group with plans to carve a unique role for itself at the well-traveled juncture of tech and life sciences. And the new job comes through an old college buddy.
🚨Trade deadline🚨 Les @SDPadresFR
I like Adam Frazier as a guy who is going to put the ball in play and not strikeout. I don't love Adam Frazier because this season looks a bit like an outlier.
xwOBA thinks Frazier is more of a 110-115 wRC+ hitter. So seems like he might be due for some regression, but still above average.
I like Frazier, but I don't think we should be comparing him to Tony Gwynn
It was just Frazier. Mainly a kneejerk comment about how it feels like they’ve swooped up multiple potential Sox targets lately.
