Eagles’ vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas is close to Jets’ HC Adam Gase and has been discussed in league circles for a while now as the potential GM for the NYJ.
Also worth noting that Eagles’ vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas is close friends with NFLN Draft Analyst Daniel Jeremiah. A potential package deal for the Jets. https://t.co/PEbFdhKWWh
A tandem of Joe Douglas and Daniel Jeremiah from a scouting perspective would be as good of an outcome the #Jets can get here https://t.co/UuukGD07E6
From our breaking news segment: A look at why the #Jets moved on from GM Mike Maccagnan, along with a few candidates to watch -- Joe Douglas and Champ Kelly.
Sources: Adam Gase’s preferred choice to be the next Jets general manager: Eagles VP of player personnel Joe Douglas.
Douglas and Gase overlapped with the Chicago Bears.
Joe Douglas from the Eagles will be the front runner for the GM job. He has been the rumored name.
Joe Douglas seems like the best-case scenario for #Jets GM. Has ties to Adam Gase with #Bears. Spent a decade and a half with Ozzie Newsome for #Ravens & last 3 years with #Eagles, arguably the smartest org in the league.
OK, we're done spiking the football (we think).
In all seriousness, the #Jets should've made this move when they hired Adam Gase.
The connection between Gase and Joe Douglas is one of the worst-kept secrets in the NFL.
The Jets will be a better organization because of this.
This is Joe Douglas. Nothing has ever been as important to me as this man becoming the next general manager of the Jets
Joe Douglas and Daniel Jeremiah are close from their days working together in the @Ravens
scouting department. Getting those two would be a good outcome. https://t.co/DTyp8ABAUU
Joe Douglas as next #Jets GM would be a tremendous move. Lots of rising stars in Philly FO to fill his shoes. Gase / Douglas marriage makes too much sense. Will Jets hire a search firm or let Gase lead this process? Intrigued.
If Joe Douglas leaves Eagles to be Jets GM as many in the league expect, then Andrew Berry likely to assume Douglas's role in Philly. Douglas, with deep roots in Ravens org, may seek to bring Ravens exec Chad Alexander with him to NY.
I think Joe Douglas has done very well, with extremely limited draft resources the past few years. He would be a big loss to the Eagles, regardless of who they have added.
Is it too early to blame Joe Douglas for not signing a center? #Jets
Rumblings were rampant before the draft that Jets considering changing GMs and if so, Eagles exec Joe Douglas would be high on list of possible replacements. Strong ties to Adam Gase. We'll see.
, the #Eagles may be at risk of losing Vice President of Player Personnel Joe Douglas, as he is a top candidate to fill the #Jets vacant GM job.
This would be a big loss to the Eagles front office and scouting staff.
#Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas makes a lot of sense for the #Jets GM job. With all of the movement in the #Eagles scouting department over the last few weeks, the team is probably preparing for the eventual departure of Douglas, this offseason or in future
Timing would be strange for a GM change at this time of the year but I've said for awhile that there is a good chance April's draft will be Joe Douglas' last with the #Eagles. Bringing in Andrew Berry was part of the prep for losing Joe at some point
Quick take: Joe Douglas heading to the #Jets? @JohnBarchard
says the #Eagles can withstand the hit, but all eyes will be on Howie moving forward.
League source says Joe Douglas is indeed Adam Gase’s preference to be GM of the #Jets. Have to believe Gase is getting what he wants after winning a coup.
Here are some thoughts on the Jets' now-vacant GM job and the connections to #Eagles VP of player personnel Joe Douglas:
Scouts around the league are saying it’s a done deal that Joe Douglas is the Jets general manager. Director of college scouting Jon Carr might get a sham interview to satisfy the Rooney Rule but they think the Jets and Douglas have an agreement.
The new Eagle Eye pod is live! Me and @RoobNBCS
talk about Joe Douglas and are joined by #Eagles QB Nate Sudfeld.
• Joe Douglas to Jets?
• Plan if Douglas leaves
• Nate Sudfeld joins us
• Nate on his offseason
• Eagles Austism Challenge
The report that came out draft weekend about the rift turned out to be true, even though I did not believe it. In that report Joe Douglas was connected to the Jets.
I wont make the same mistake again and not believe the smoke coming from that report.
Joe Douglas will be our GM https://t.co/EJpiAXRtH4
Joe Douglas, and the staff members he might take with him, would be hard to replace if the Jets hire him away
They’re turning it over to gase and joe Douglas from the eagles.. why they waited until now doesn’t surprise me bc the jets will do jets things
What's annoying is if the Jets bring in Joe Douglas and Daniel Jeremiah, that's a big upgrade in scouting and personnel. But there's no chance it will be viewed that way because of how it all went down.
It’s a big step forward in the RIGHT direction for the #Jets. If we come away with Joe Douglas and Jeremiah thats a HUGE win for NY. https://t.co/naYSE21Tgr
Closed circuit to the #Jets. If you want to stop looking stupid, give Joe Douglas the keys and get out of the way. https://t.co/AVVDuO9uOu
New York Jets fire General Manager Mike MacCagnan, name Head Coach Adam Gase acting GM #Football #NFL #NYJets #Maccagnan https://t.co/RpVFEk8OUx
Have a feeling Adam is hinting towards Joe Douglas here. #eagles can block his move to NY if he does not have full control of the 53 https://t.co/MV1Igqn5bu
“Hey big head.” -Joe Douglas aka NYJ next GM
It's the jets, and hiring Joe Douglas would be a smart move... so it probably won't happen.
So Eagles could potentially block Joe Douglas if he's not getting control of the 53? Not that they'd want to, since that might hurt the relationship, but it's a possibility?
I thought the GM is the one who would be handed the organization? Thats what they're interested in Joe Douglas for. DJ would be an advisor.
Jets fired a bad GM that has had 1 winning season in his tenure.
Hiring say a Joe Douglas would be a clear improvement. https://t.co/Fj8mBhqb68
My favorite Joe Douglas story is that he was wearing a “Free Meek” t-shirt in the locker room after the Eagles won the Super Bowl
I wouldn’t say he’s clueless or that Douglas is overrated, but Joe Douglas isn’t the only that can do that job well.
Joe Douglas will have plenty of opportunities to get a GM job in the future and Eagles fans know that. But as a guy that obviously respects his work for the Eagles, I would hate to see him move up the ladder by joining a complete dumpster fire from ownership down.
I take it you’re not familiar with Joe Douglas or Jeremiah’s history before moving to TV. Douglas is a respected member of Philly FO and Jeremiah was a scout before TV. Getting the two of them would be a good move.
The thing I don't buy about this....is that there was plenty of smoke prior to the draft, that Joe Douglas was our guy.
If the Eagles wouldn't let him move on, until after the draft/free agency. This was simply the route required, if we wanted the top man for our job.
