Tonight we welcomed back former Yankees Manager Joe Torre, alongside his wife Ali, as we honored The Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation. Thank you to Yankees partner Ace Endico, who presented a $25,000 donation to the foundation.
I wrote Joe Torre In 1996, and told him about my Uncle Jim
who had just been diagnosed with cancer. It wasn’t good.
Not only wrote back, but also sent personalized Yankee memorabilia with a note to “Beat Cancer”. He survived another 20 years..
I know it helped... https://t.co/ekJx9emDYv
Joe Torre and his wife Ali are at Yankee Stadium today promoting "Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation Awareness Night." Since 2002, the foundation has worked to help young people affected by domestic violence. Torre started the foundation after being affected when he was a kid.
Listening to Joe Torre talking about the important work he’s done with @TorreSafeAtHome on the Yankees telecast reminded me of his moving visit to a Connecticut Middle school in 2004. His honesty that day struck me and stuck with me. https://t.co/Nm9DTvUKUg
