@Haggis_UK But @SuellaBraverman there wasn't a "pact" was there?! A pact would be Labour not standing in Tiverton & Honiton and Lib Dems not in Wakefield. But both stood up candidates. What happened is the VOTERS exercised their democratic right to vote tactically to Get The Tories Out.

Labour lost their deposit in Tiverton and the lib dems lost their's in Wakefield, the tories didn't lose any deposits just saying.

The media have not mentioned the combined votes for the two by elections last night were - Conservatives – 24,634 Lib Dems – 23,045 Labour – 14,728 Worth pointing out that last time there was a double by-election loss, both seats reverted to the Tories at the following GE.

I can't remember a single by election that has any long term significance except a lot of fuss on the day. Lib Dems win by elections, but then always fail to win elections. By elections are a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing

@THEJamesWhale Labour lost its deposit in Tiverton and won Wakefield on a decent swing. Lib Dems lost their deposit in Wakefield and won on a huge swing in Tiverton. This is industrial scale tactical voting, and it's a big deal because this will destroy the Tory party. Thank god.

The Tiverton by election clearly showed that many traditional Tories were prepared to lend their votes to the victorious Lib Dems. Unless Labour is prepared to acknowledge the continuing damage that Brexit is causing our economy, I will do the same at the next general election.

Several things came out of the by-elections. At the next GE Labour will have to do a deal with the Lib Dems or the SNP or both. The price for these deals will be rejoining the EU and the break up of the Union. It's time for all brexiteers to get behind Boris. #BackBoris #Brexit

It wasn't an agreement between Labour & The Lib Dems that led to the loss of two seats for The Conservatives-it was the voting public who decided they had had enough of the Tories- you & Boris Johnson- they used their votes effectively to achieve that @SuellaBraverman

Fun fact for Daily Mail readers - The Lib Dems had a candidate in Wakefield , Labour had a candidate in Devon .In 2019 Nigel Farage's party withdrew candidates in 317 tory held seats to help the tories
