Infielder José Peraza non-tendered by #Reds, sources tell The Athletic.
Free-agent infielder Mike Moustakas is one possibility to replace José Peraza with #Reds, sources tell me and @ctrent
. #Reds have interest in Moustakas and would play him at second base.
Source confirms INF Jose Peraza has been non-tendered by the Reds. @Ken_Rosenthal
was first with the news.
Assuming the #Reds had 40 million to spend, this signing gives them around 24 million remaining.
Peraza non tender adds a little to that number I’d imagine.
Reds Twitter argues a lot, but this is a move I think we can all come together and rejoice
Thank you for bringing us closer Peraza, even if it was just to tweet at @Reds
to get you off the field https://t.co/WZRhmug65V
Updated Cincinnati Reds roster/payroll projection:
•2B Mike Moustakas agreed to 4-yr, $64M contract.
•INF/OF Jose Peraza non-tendered.
Moustakas slashed .254/.329/.516 with 35 HR, 30 2B in 584 PAs for Milwaukee in '19.
Jose Peraza plays above-average D at 2B and SS and he has 20+ SB speed, but he's a career .312 OBP guy and as a RHH with a pronounced split he wouldn't bring any balance to NYY's righty-dominant lineup
Reds non-tender Peraza & keep Galvis. So SS is still weak
Moose is a big upgrade at 2B
Is Didi still an affordable option at SS? https://t.co/WMR43Zf1Hp
Is a single person votes “NO” on this poll it’s Jose Peraza.
I love it! The guy deserved this much. Plus, he's a fuck ton better than Jose Peraza, who got his walking papers today. He will rake in Great American Smalls! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Keeping Suarez at 3rd, Galvis at SS, moose played 2b this year for first time, better the Peraza or Dietrich
Senzel went from being interesting top prospect to being a 25 year old that still hasn't done anything, Scooter Gennett's unlikely run as a good player stopped, Peraza is now nothing.
Eugenio seguirá siendo tercera base. Moustakas cubrirá la segunda, donde jugó 47 veces en 2019. José Peraza no seguirá con los Reds.
Well I guess it wasn't about money because they just signed Moustakas for 4 years/$64M. I think Peraza was just let go to clear roster space.
No more Peraza for the Reds and now they have signed Mike Moustakas! 2nd base aired up for the next 4 years. Can we sign an upgrade at SS or LF? Maybe some bullpen help for a late playoff push.
Oh ok that’ll work, as long as Peraza is gone it’s an upgrade.
Reds are not playing around this winter. A definite upgrade over Peraza.
Peraza is quite a bit better ( especially as a hitter) than the Reds allowed him to be. If you would have played him regularly at 2nd base he woud hit .280, steal 25 bases and become a better fielder w/ regular playing time. The Reds wasted him.
