Please excuse me. I need to take some time to stretch before patting myself on the back for bringing up on Saturday Darrelle Revis deal with the Patriots. https://t.co/vZdN66A2Gq
Same exact contract that they gave Revis. Patriots declined the option, and he signed for $39 million guaranteed with the Jets https://t.co/5DdAnd0mO0
Wondered if something like this would happen. Kept thinking back to that Darrelle Revis deal as an example. https://t.co/HI6FsSnaTk
As a very astute agent pointed out to me: "What Pats are doing with DeMariyus Thomas and AB in 2019 offensively, is what they did in 2014 with Browner and Revis. DT is BB and Revis is AB. Just otherside of the ball." Renting both players and get voidable yr for cap benefit
I had a feeling they would do this. The Patriots have a ton of space available in 2020, so it made sense to split the bonus over 2 seasons. This is essentially the structure they used for Revis. I believe it also prevents them from using the franchise tag, which is good for AB. https://t.co/QVeWcVOjKc
The Patriots have added a year on AB contract. It is an option deal for $20 million in 2020. It is set up the spread the signing bonus over two years. It is basically the same deal Revis had when he was here.
Those funny money options also help inflate the annual value of the deal. With Revis' it allowed him to still say on paper that he was among the highest paid
I need to see the details on Antonio Brown's contract. That Revis deal sucked. Added $5M in dead money to the cap after he left. Offer these guys what you can and tell them to take it or leave it.
@CheyenneSulli14 @RapSheet @SierraGoodwill
Its Randy Moss money with the Revis structuring. Lowers the cap hit and gives the Patriots the 5th round compensatory pick when they decline his option and he gets paid
Very similar to Darrelle Revis's deal in 2014. It's effectively a one-year deal, with the second to make the accounting work. https://t.co/0bLAlsBTSG
Pats are defiantly putting some of the money he’s making this year on next years option. The $20M option is gonna turn into like $25M like revis’ did. That’s a HUGE cap charge. They’ll just take the $5M in dead money https://t.co/439RZmkEIJ
la salle de sport de mon école... je revis vrmt je suis trop heureux
And you don’t know that defense if you think it was only Revis... they beat NE and Peytons ass
@diegoalvesfga @nepatriotas @AdamSchefter
If they decide to keep him they’ll just give him an extension. It won’t be 20 million I promise you. This is EXACTLY like the revis deal. No way that 20 mil is executed. I don’t care what kind of year he has
Was not a fan of the idea of AB coming here but w/ all the Patriots hate & absurd conspiracy theories post transaction so be it. It’s a Revis 1 & done deal. He acts up they’ll walk away. He stays in line, could help bring #7 home. He will not be allowed to disrupt this system.
Having a good to really good corner is nice Jones,McCourty,Butler.....having a shutdown CB Law,Revis, Gilmore your D is elite
Usually agree with you, but I think @patscap
could explain to you why that Revis deal was better for the Pats the way it was executed rather than taking the hit all in 2014.
