Lady Sybil is *fat*. She's middle aged. She operates 90% through kindness and 10% through a deep rock-solid sense of her own self worth, and her hesitant late-life romance with Sam is gloriously real.
But sure, let's make her a sexy lady vigilante instead, that's so novel.
Realmente lo único que me molesta de la adaptación de Mundodisco es lo de Sybil porque las actrices gordas de 40 años también pueden ser una cosa que exista.
Top Spy Stef Halper went on a mission to Mozambique with his wife and got trapped. CIA's Ray Cline, Halper's father-in-law sent a soldier-of-fortune Bob MacKenzie to rescue them. Sybil Halper Cline dumped Fat Stef for her dashing rescuer.

"...the formidable Lady Sybil Ramkin, last scion of Ankh-Morpork’s nobility, who’s trying to fix the city’s wrongs with her chaotic vigilantism."
thanks, I hate it. https://t.co/IpAuw7buzy
No Nobby. No Colon. No Detritus. Vetinari a "Mixture of Elvis and Dracula". Lady Sybil Ramkin a young, slender "vigilante". Vimes old Mentor - who in the books IS VIMES after a timejump - played by an actor with different skin colour.
Will be going live at 20 CET on Twitch, the match will have no comms from us, but will have a great playlist selected by the team :D
I… What? No.
Why would you do this to Sybil
HER ACTUAL SUPERPOWER IS KINDNESS ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME https://t.co/K4bJgyKsrg
I am trying very hard to wait and see with #TheWatch but...GIMME FAT MIDDLE-AGED LADY SYBIL https://t.co/bZTyPh7YCP
That’s part of what made Vimes/Sybil such a great match—two lonely middle-aged people who never thought there would be love.
not being able to watch the seeding tournament matches is slowly driving me insane
I'm so annoyed she's not fat. And tbh, having her be a vigilante takes away from the fact that Sybil uses her immense social privilege to effect change.
Terry Pratchett wouldn't recognize this Lady Sybil.
And that's a damn shame.
This change is infinitely worse and more egregiously bad than having Charles Dance as Lord Vetinari in Going Postal.
This was a bad, deliberate choice. https://t.co/ISN8rfa9Cc
Like, if it's presented as a good thing, that misses the point of the original city watch being an actual ethical, responsible law enforcement group
And if it's a bad thing I guarantee they've thrown Sybil as a character out the window
Miranda Hart would have been a better shout! Then she could have towered over Vimes. I don't know if her height is ever mentioned in the books... but a Sybil who has to pick Vimes up off the ground to kiss him would be amazing.
I knew Lady Sybil's fat would be the first to go. And if you *don't* think she's a fucking hero already from how she works the 'old gal' nerwork, then there's no hope for you. She doesn't need to become a vigilante, she already is. https://t.co/BXvqGa5xcl
'How do we update Sybil for a MODERN take?'
'Make her a vigilante who burns people alive!'
I'm more than fine with a black Sybil, but a young, thin Sybil? No. Sybil Vimes is a vanishingly rare example in male-written literature of a non-sylph-like, older woman who is allowed to be a complete human being. Abandoning that would be a betrayal.
Right: I don't know whether these versions of Cheery or Sybil work in the context of what the show wants to do, but it's fairly obvious that they're very different than the book characters
