Georgia bans abortion after six weeks & will punish women who go out of state. Alabama bans abortion even in the case of rape & will punish women with 99 years in jail. And Republicans fearmonger about “Shariah Law coming to America”? It’s obvious they’re the ones bringing it.

Alabama just passed a near-total ban on abortion. No exceptions for rape or incest. Doctors could face 99 years in prison for providing abortions. This is a war on women, and it is time to fight like hell. https://t.co/lhwlbyeQsl

Alabama just passed the most restrictive abortion ban in the country: 99 years in jail for doctor who performs an abortion. No exception for rape and incest. Women will die. This is medieval cruelty and ignorance. We need to do something https://t.co/qQKa0kuUll

Republican lawmakers in states like Louisiana, Alabama, and Missouri are actively working to eliminate women’s access to safe, legal abortion. It’s a direct effort to criminalize women for their health care decisions. This is unacceptable.

Outrageous news coming out of Alabama. This law would effectively ban abortions in the state and criminalize doctors for doing their jobs - providing health care to women. https://t.co/90utkxn7J2

The Alabama Senate just stripped women of health care rights by voting to make abortion procedures a felony. I will fight in solidarity with women to make sure rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade will not be threatened by those who have no business making laws about their bodies. https://t.co/hS1a2lNEc0

These fragile insecure cowardly men in Alabama, trying desperately to cling to their fading male privilege by taking the most basic rights away from women, are as shameful as they are pathetic. I can’t wait to see the look on their faces when women finally take over. It’s coming.

The Alabama ban on nearly all abortions—including in cases of rape & incest—w/99 years in prison as punishment, will not save lives It will embolden abusive men, empower rapists, & cause more pain & death via unsafe abortions If Gov Ivey has any regard for women she will veto

Remember when trump said "there has to be some form of punishment" for women who get abortions? Alabama Senate just voted to make trump's "Handmaid's Tale" wish a reality, as abortion procedures would be punishable by up to 99 years or life in prison. https://t.co/31XGXOfTxd

Even for some ardent (usually male) liberals and humanitarians, the bit in the fascist playbook where they start persecuting & subjugating women is rather hard to properly understand. So thank you, Alabama Republicans, for the crash course.

The Alabama abortion ban is not just about outlawing the health care procedure from the moment of conception, endangering doctors, challenging Roe v. Wade, or policing women’s bodies. The ban will also put a lot more black women in prison than anyone else. https://t.co/rG2rYhIYvL

A few years ago, when I was nearly killed by a serial rapist, secondarily I feared pregnancy. I missed my 1st period after the rape. I was terrified. In #Alabama, I would not have been able to get an #abortion. This law is meant solely to punish women. Stop pretending otherwise.

By making all abortion illegal and something that women will be arrested for, Alabama basically ensured women will not get medical care post botched abortion. Deaths will be unknown cause. So no spike in abortion deaths.

How many of them are reacting in a revenge mentality towards the women who turned them down? These are the men of Alabama abortion bill. White women can fix this. Just a reminder that banning abortion doesn't stop abortion. It stops safe abortions. Even if you, for some reason, think a 6-week old embryo is a life equal to that of a fully grown adult - laws like those in Alabama or NI do not save lives. They simply kill women as well.

So a woman faces jail and her ‘impregnator’ faces nothing, even if an attack on her was itself, illegal. 35 senators in Alabama. Just 4 are women. How long before they decide pregnant women can’t vote? Flat Earth, ‘hopes and prayers’ thinking. Abhorrent. https://t.co/Vkm5js4FoV

just to say: wealthy women will still be able to afford access to a safe abortion, in secret, regardless of a ban. This happens all the time, around the world. Yes the law in Alabama is an attack on women - but more specifically, it’s an attack on poor and marginalised women.

Disgusted by the proposed law change in #Alabama - this is not pro life it’s a blatant attempt to control women. No doubt there won’t be tougher stances on rape or incest. Nor will there be increased funding for education and contraception to prevent unplanned pregnancy
